Our Story

It all began as a simple experiment.

Founded in 2009, Shwood was born from the limb of a Madrone tree, a rusty pair of cabinet hinges, and lenses from the corner store. The goal was simple—create a product that encompasses the individuality and uniqueness that can only be found in natural surroundings.

Materials that Matter

We've scoured the globe for the finest components in the world. From the frames to the packaging, every aspect is carefully considered.

Shwood's 13-ply construction merges premium hardwoods with ultra-thin aluminum stringers for industry-leading durability and featherweight comfort.

Crafted in Italy from cotton and wood pulp, Mazzucchelli acetate is known for its beautiful designs, supple textures, and 100 year legacy of quality.

A new innovation in the eyewear market, Shwood has developed an in-house resin-casting technique to quite literally freeze elements of nature in time.

Lens Tech

Designed with the outdoors in mind, 'Shwood Optics' proprietary lenses are crafted from CR-39 resin, boasting the highest clarity on the market.  All lenses offer 100% UVA/UVB protection.  Polarized models include an optical grade 5-layer Anti-Reflective coating.

In addition to our core materials shown above, Shwood has developed over 15 new materials innovations in the eyewear market.  These materials include stone, newspaper, oxidized copper, glass, abalone shell, vinyl records, and many more.
